Sugar has a new look for summer!

It’s called “a la Natural” and WOW does it look good on her!!  I recently shared my thoughts on “all things sugar” in this recent CNET article.

Sugar is just so sneaky!!!  It loves to hide out in all kinds of favorite “treats”….BUT I have really good news!  It’s totally possible to dial down and even kick out that super addictive, not so good for you so called friend and I have some HEALTHY IDEAS to help you get there!

Check out my Healthy Ideas for a “Sugar Swap”. That’s right, try these awesome spices in place of any kind of “modified or added” sugar (check out my article for the 411).  Once you retrain those taste buds with these subtle, great for you spices your whole flavor profile changes….not to mention you are kicking your cravings to the curb.

GROUND CINNAMON

Use for: iced tea or smoothies
Sweet benefits: Cinnamon keeps blood sugar stable and energy just where you need it.

UNSWEETENED COCONUT FLAKES

Use for: oatmeal, trail mix, energy balls, your favorite unsweetened yogurt.
Sweet benefits: Coconut provides MCT’s, a type of fat that may help burn fat.

UNSWEETENED CACAO POWDER AND/OR CACAO NIBS

Use with: any kind of berries, in healthy smoothies (check out my smoothie recipes for ideas)
Sweet benefits: Cacao boosts brain power and adds a healthy kick of magnesium.

GROUND VANILLA BEANS

Use for: coffee, pancakes, smoothies, unsweetened yogurt
Sweet benefits: Vanilla bean’s aroma elevates feelings of joy and lowers inflammatory stress markers.
